DITA 2025: LIFE UNBOUNDED

Duke University Initiatives for Theology and the Arts New Caritas Orchestra concert in Goodson Chapel, with Jeremy Begbie conducting from the piano in the middle of the stage.

Surprising Encounters in Theology and the Arts

DITA2025 Conference 9/4-7/2025

Concert: Saturday, 9/6, 2025, 7:30 PM.

As a part of the DITA2025 conference, Duke Initiatives in Theology and the Arts presents a concert with a difference. Through a wide variety of music—including classical and jazz, film and folk, Irish keening and Baroque brass—interspersed with spoken words, the evening will explore the theme of resurrection.

Featuring the New Caritas Orchestra, conducted by Duke musician and theologian Jeremy Begbie, with soloists including soprano Awet Andemicael and a new single by the celebrated singer-songwriter Sandra McCracken, Begbie and the orchestra will lead the audience on a journey in sound—both plumbing the depths of the world’s sorrow and scaling the heights of a death-defying hope. The concert also includes a new work specially commissioned for the evening by the award-winning Argentinian-Mexican composer Josh Rodriguez, a choir of singers from Duke University Chapel, and original poetry by Debbie Whitton Spriggs and Malcolm Guite.

Tickets are included with registration to DITA2025 and are also available for purchase individually.
